SIKO IK360 inclinometer - Measuring tilts and angle adjustments on construction machinery

SIKO IK360 inclinometer - Measuring tilts and angle adjustments on construction machinery

11 August 2014

In the Mobile Automation sector in particular, it is becoming increasingly important to measure tilts as a means of protecting against the risk of construction machinery tipping over and to detect the angle of booms and swivel arms.

SIKO is now expanding its inclinometer product range with the new IK360L, incorporating a sensor with system accuracy to within +/- 0.5°.
The IK360L is constructed identically to the existing SIKO IK360 inclinometer: a black, glass-fiber reinforced PBT housing, and installation made simple by using a three-point assembly method.

The IP protection classes IP67 + IP68 and IP69k allow extended immersion of the sensor in water and cleaning, even with a high-pressure steam jet (e.g. for road vehicles).

The tilt or angular position is detected on an absolute basis, meaning that no recalibration of the actual position is required when the supply voltage is interrupted. Like the IK360, the IK360L is available as a single-axis version (0..360°) or dual-axis version (+/- 80°).

The system accuracy is +/- 0.5°, making this economical inclinometer perfect for low-cost applications.

All other supplementary functions such as the ability to program the unit via the RS232- or CanOpen interfaces as well as the teach-in functions for direct on-site zero-point setting or change in rotation direction are available as before in the new IK360L.

Advantages and features:

  • Compact inclinometer with built-in electronic evaluation
  • Single-axle - measurement range: 0…360°
  • Dual-axle - measurement range: +/- 80°
  • System accuracy: +/- 0.5° (-10…+40°C°)
  • Resolution: 0.01°
  • Response time: 10 ms (without filter)
  • Various interfaces available:
  • RS232+I, RS232+U (0 – 10 volts) or CANopen (bus-capable)
  • Programmable parameters (resolution, preset, software filter)
  • Teach-in function (Limiting of measurement range, zero-point setting or change of direction)
