CAN modules for temperature measurement in harsh environments

CAN modules for temperature measurement in harsh environments

20 January 2013

Test and measurement specialist HBM has launched its new MC1609R modules that allow reliable and precise temperature measurement even in harsh environments.

CAN-bus technology is utilized for connection to a measurement data acquisition system - for example, the Somat system from HBM. 16 channels for type K, J or T thermocouples are available per module and can be sampled with up to 200 Hz. The modules come with SomatCR Assistant software that facilitates easy and fast configuration. Users can easily expand their existing systems with many temperature measurement channels.

The thermocouple modules meet the high IP65 degree of protection and can be used in the temperature range from -40 °C to +125 °C. They are thus ideally suited for applications in extremely harsh ambient conditions. Typical examples include mobile agricultural and construction machinery, trucks and applications in the aerospace industry.
