AED digital transducer electronics for analog SG transducers

AED digital transducer electronics for analog SG transducers

20 June 2010

When analog transducers using strain gage technology (SG) are integrated into a superordinate system, the analog signals usually have to be digitized. HBM’s new AED transducer electronics are now available for this purpose.

They make it very easy to integrate analog standard load cells into a digital environment. Transducer electronics are equipped with different fieldbus interfaces, such as CANOpen, DeviceNet and Profibus DP V1, as well as serial RS232 and RS485 interfaces.

It is quick and easy to activate the AED via these interfaces with a PC, for example.

Efficient digital filters, sampling rate adjustment, characteristic curves, linearization and more than 100 structured commands can be parameterized in this way. The different fieldbus interfaces ensure that there is never any problem integrating into a wide variety of superordinate applications.

All the inputs and outputs of the transducer electronics are electrically isolated. Use under harsh ambient conditions is also assured by degree of protection IP65.

The compact AED can thus also be installed right next to the strain gage transducer.

AED transducer electronics are suitable both for static and dynamic applications, for example in batching and weighing technology. The use of encryption technology in conjunction with the DWS2103 scale display is an easy way to upgrade standard solutions in weighing technology to legal-for-trade systems. No new investment in digital load cells is required to do this. Connection to Ethernet-based systems is also possible with the DWS2103.
