Cool measurement technology at the Aluminum 2014 trade fair

22 October 2014

Micro-Epsilon: At the world leading "Aluminum 2014" trade fair in Düsseldorf (Germany), Micro-Epsilon presented a measurement system that detects the thickness of metal sheet processed in a hot rolling mill, regardless of the alloy.

The water-cooled sensors and an air-cooled frame are just two of the new innovations of the O-frame-shaped thicknessCONTROL MTS8201.LLT - HME measurement system, which is used in hot rolling mills for non-contact thickness measurement in aluminum production. These and many more features of this new system help to reduce thermal effects on measurement results. Furthermore, Micro-Epsilon will launch its new measurement system for combined thickness and width measurement in slitting lines, which inspects every single strip. The innovative measurement system includes as well a new multi-touch user interface.

Micro-Epsilon offers optical measurement systems for thickness, width and speed in the aluminum industry. These non-contact thickness measurement systems operate using laser line technology, providing high precision, robustness and ease of use. In addition to the C- and O-frame thickness measurement systems for processing plants and hot/cold rolling mills, the German specialist for measurement technology also provides sensors for non-contact measurement of speed and length.
