O300 and O500 photoelectric sensors in hygienic and washdown design for extra reliability in critical environments

13 November 2015

Baumer: With the new O300 and O500 sensors in hygienic and washdown design, Baumer offers maximum reliability, comfort and minimum operating costs. In conjunction with the proTect+ impermeability concept for a long service life and IO-Link, the new sensors are the ideal solution for critical environments in the food & beverage sector.

The EHEDG and FDA-compliant O300 and O500 sensors in hygienic design and protection classes IP68 and IP69K, meeting the highest safety standards of the food industry and preventing any adhesion of dirt thanks to the smooth, groove-free surface. Baumer is the first manufacturer to offer hygienic sensors whose sensing distance can be adjusted directly on the device using the wear-free qTeach procedure.

The Ecolab-certified sensors with washdown design and protection class IP69K even stand up to aggressive cleaning and disinfectant agents as well as high-pressure cleaners. Thanks to the Baumer proTect+ impermeability concept, all sensors with the hygienic washdown design offer outstanding resistance, a long service life as well as top process reliability thanks to their special design and the use of high-quality materials. The new O300/O500 sensors are available as diffuse sensors with background suppression, retro-reflective sensors or with SmartReflect. SmartReflect was the first light barrier on the market to operate completely without any separate reflector or receiver. With the new SmartReflect Transparent variant, Baumer has made the detection of transparent objects of any form or structure even easier and more reliable, even up to a distance of 1 meter.

The integrated IO-Link interface allows easy automated parameterization of the sensors for fast and flexible format changes. However, IO-Link supports not only the bi-directional transmission of sensor parameters like measuring ranges or switchable distances. The interface also supplies qualified process and diagnostic data for optimized maintenance processes and improved process quality. This means that the IO-Link sensors by Baumer are "Ready for Industry 4.0"
