Sensors for a wide variety of applications

Sensors for a wide variety of applications

05 November 2014

Metallux supplies sensors for a wide variety of applications in industry, medical technology and in automotive applications. The company's extensive range of sensor products in various sizes and designs enable it to meet its customers' specific requirements.

Metallux offers linear position sensors and rotary sensors in a variety of designs and technologies, measuring lengths and sizes. Whether linear, rotary, potentiometric and/or contactless, our sensors come with a range of signal outputs, and as complete units or components. The membrane sensors in the MetaPot range in particular offer many exciting possibilities.

Featuring, among other things, developments in the area of new materials, the latest generation of membrane potentiometers offers an alternative to conventional sensors for many applications. Thanks to their flat design, the membrane potentiometers can be used in extremely confined spaces. Short development times for customised solutions are an additional advantage. Metallux's Development division is a core element of the business. Linear or rotary sensors can be developed for customers within a very short time and at an amazingly low cost. This is illustrated below by a description of three standard membrane sensors:

Linear MTP-L membrane sensor

The translatory MTP-L membrane sensors are well-suited for precision position sensing applications in a variety of industries. The membrane sensors are non-wearing, easy to install and offer wide possibilities for integration, as well as an IP65 protection class. The technology is membrane to membrane, enabling these sensors to be extremely flat.

MTP-LX membrane sensor

Together with its long lifetime, special features of the Metallux MTP-LX membrane sensor include excellent linearity of up to < ± 0.3% and temperature resistance of up to 105°C. This is due in particular to the conductive plastic technology. Also impressive is the extreme robustness and resistance it offers to dust, soiling and liquids.

Contactless, magnetic, and linear MMP membrane sensor

The contactless membrane technology of the MMP series is a logical further development of the MTP series. Linear contactless Metallux membrane sensors can be used for position sensing in a wide range of applications, such as seat position recognition, drive technology and automation engineering. The contactless measurement is performed by means of a layer of metal foil integrated in the sensor and a magnet positioned at a set distance from the sensor.

Wiper

The wiper - also known as the actuator - plays an important role in the use of membrane potentiometers. Its design has an enormous impact in achieving optimal results. The shape, material and contact pressure of the collector foil must be customized according to design and application. Detailed coordination between the development partners will deliver the required results. Standard components have standard wipers.

Whether they are linear or rotary, MetaPot membrane sensors come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, not only for standard temperature ranges. Users have access to a measuring system, which can be adapted to their particular application at a competitive price. Other attractive features include quick installation times, a high degree of operational safety and precision for accurate measurement and control.
