The all-in-one motion control solution from Pilz – PMCprimo Drive P control system: Compact and powerful

With the control system PMCprimo DriveP Pilz is expanding its portfolio in the motion control sector. The new control system is a combination of motion control card and servo amplifier. PMCprimo DriveP is designed for applications with several axes and high requirements in terms of performance and synchronised movements. The compact dimensions, a fast processor, digital inputs and outputs, a clear software tool and the expandability with the PMCprotego S safety card are features of the new control system.

The combination of motion control, SPS and safety functions in one device makes PMCprimo DriveP a compact solution with a small space requirement in the control cabinet. The control system for motion control masters control functions for various branches such as packaging machines, semiconductor industry and medical technology.

Thanks to the parallel operation of two CANopen networks the new control system achieves short cycle times with up to 16 axes. The newest generation of Intel x86 Atom processors ensure the required computing power. Thanks to the FPGA chip, the processor is relieved from the field bus communication, whereby complex systems with several axes can be implemented. Thanks to the detection of printer's marks for each axis the new control system can drive more axes, meaning larger machines and systems as well, at the same time with faster system reaction times.

In addition to the six digital inputs and outputs of the motion control the inputs and outputs of the servo amplifier are also evaluated and driven. Thanks to the additional inputs and outputs the users achieve an economical solution. A multitude of interfaces makes PMCprimo DriveP open for individual requirements. Thanks to the storage of all configuration data on the SD memory card no additional components such as PC, software or cables are required when exchanging units or in the event of an expansion. The control system also includes software tools that support the user during the introduction and save time thanks to a clear project documentation.

PMCprimo DriveP can be expanded with the PMCprotego S safety card for safety-related applications. An all-in-one motion control solution for drive, control and safety is thus available.
