RIFTEK:We continue to improve and expand our range of instruments for measuring internal diameters. The design of such a new system for pipes ID measurement is shown below.

Self-propelled Pipe Internal Diameter Inspection System

The module carries the set of replacement centering wheels (1); measuring wheel (2); traction wheel (3); two laser sensors (4), placed inside rotating head; front camera (5) with LED lighting (6); replacement battery (7). Also shown: connectors for fiber optics communication channels (12), (13); power supply ON/OFF button (14); battery level indicator (15) with red button; a slot for SD card (16); Wi-Fi antenna (17); hook for connecting safety cord (18).

The module is placed inside the pipe, the distance between the measured sections is specified in the control program. The module sequentially moves to the required control positions. Rotating laser sensors measure the distance to the surface of the pipe. The polar coordinates of the surface (the distance from the axis of rotation measured by the sensors and the corresponding angle of rotation) are transmitted to the PC. Images of the inner surface are accumulated on a memory card and then transferred to a computer.

The program controls the system calibration and scanning process, creates 3D model of the surface in real time, compares the resulting model with the ideal one, allows measurements of wear and geometrical parameters at any cross-section of the tube.
