Self-optimization function significantly improves angular accuracy of Hall-effect encoders

MEGATRON Hall-effect rotary encoders with incremental and SSI outputs automatically optimize angular measurement during operation. With each complete revolution, angular accuracy improves step by step to as much as ±0.1°. Particularly in kit solutions, this function helps reduce the impact of mechanical installation tolerances on measurement accuracy.

MEGATRON Hall-effect rotary encoders with incremental or SSI outputs precisely detect rotary movements, angular positions and rotational speeds. A special feature of the ETI/ETS and HTI/HTS series is their integrated self-optimization function: With each complete revolution, the angular measurement is further optimized, gradually increasing accuracy. At room temperature, angular accuracies of up to ±0.1° are possible.

The self-optimization function therefore provides an additional accuracy advantage over conventional Hall-effect rotary encoders. It only takes effect after complete revolutions: In applications operating within an angular range of less than 360°, the encoder operates at its standard measurement accuracy.

The self-optimization function is particularly beneficial for the kit versions of the ETx25 and HTx25 series, where the user mounts and positions the magnet relative to the sensor. Mechanical installation tolerances can affect angular measurement in this configuration. Self-optimization reduces this influence during operation, thereby ensuring high angular accuracy even in the presence of installation-related deviations.
