For the reliable supply of power

Balluff: One of the products featured at EMO will be Heartbeat® power supply units with diagnostic functions. They supply process sensors, actuators, controllers and human-machine interfaces with power reliably and efficiently. Designed for particularly challenging applications, they fulfill high standards for quality, durability and diagnostic capability. The power supply units are available in 60, 120, 240 and 480 watt output classes. The adjustable output voltage features an especially low ripple. And when peak demands arise, a power boost function mobilizes a 150-percent power reserve

The power supply units impress not only with their exceptionally high efficiency of >91%, but by the use of visual indicators, they also visualize all information to the user that they require for implementing a condition-based maintenance concept. Sensors, in combination with a microcontroller, continuously monitor wear factors in the device such as temperature, overload, interference and other boundary conditions. Thanks to an intelligent evaluation of these parameters, the user receives an overview of the status of the device for the first time. The parameters "Load Level", "Stress Level" and "Lifetime" are signaled.

The displays are brilliant enough that they can be perceived reliably even from several meters away. This enables the implementation of condition-based maintenance concepts, even for difficult-to-access devices. As such, the devices do not require replacement until their life cycle is nearing the end. The service life of the devices can thus be optimally utilized.

The variants featuring an IO-Link interface offer even greater convenience. They inform the user via IO-Link if an overload is present, if ambient conditions worsen or if a dropout is imminent. Furthermore, the interfaces make all important parameters available so they can then be evaluated in a higher-level diagnostic system. That way, for example, changes in current consumption can be reliably detected, from which conclusions about the state of the system can be made.

Thanks to their especially narrow design, the Heartbeat® power supply units in IP20 housing are the ideal solution for the resource-optimized control cabinet, whereas the IP67 variants are designed for supplying power to modules in decentralized structures.
