CoMo Injection process monitoring system Type 2869A… enables zero-defect injection molding production by analyzing the cavity pressure curve. Kistler has continued to develop and enhance the functionality of this process monitoring system that has enjoyed worldwide success. Up until now the units that evaluate the variation in mold cavity pressure have been equipped with eight channels. From K 2007 onwards, two new classes of equipment with more channels will be offered. Smaller system has 12 channels: eight for pressure and four for voltage signals. For pressure sensors a choice is offered between multi¬channel connectors with four channels (Type 2869B1…) or eight channels (Type 2869B2…). Large system Type 2869B3... with 24 input channels comprises 16 pressure and eight voltage inputs and is equipped with two 8-channel connectors for pressure sensors. The voltage inputs can be used with multichannel thermocouple amplifier Type 2205A… for combined pressure and temperature sensors or for machine signals.

At the same time Kistler has completely revised the CoMo Injection user interface. All of the functions of the system can now be accessed quickly, easily and directly from a main page on the 12.1" color touch screen monitor.

The new system also offers enhanced functionality for real-time processing and quality monitoring. From Spring 2008 on-wards the new generation of CoMo Injection units will also be available with the MultiFlow module for hot runner balancing.

Use of the successful multichannel cabling system and proven Kistler web technology for systems for injection molding quality assurance has made all of the system technology, from sensor through connection to electronics and software, as straightforward as possible.

Background: Cavity Pressure Curve

The cavity pressure curve serves as a "fingerprint" of the injection molding process. It is the most significant variable in evaluating the quality of the molding.
