New PX series – brilliant image quality with resolutions up to 12 megapixel and USB3 Vision

13 November 2014

High resolution, excellent image quality, USB 3.0 interface and rates of up to 50 frames per second – these are the outstanding attributes of the new Baumer PX camera series. Based on high-performance SONY CCD sensors and with resolutions from 2.8 to 12 megapixel, these cameras are unrivalled versatile for use in demanding applications. The first model available is with 6 megapixel resolution.

The high-quality design of the PX cameras in combination with EXview HAD CCD II sensor technology by SONY provides brilliant image quality. Extremely low-noise and with very high image saturation, the camera features a very high dynamic range of approx. 65 dB while providing a supreme signal/noise ratio of 42.5 dB. The quad-tap sensors ensure excellent linearity and homogeneity by optimized evaluation electronics and high-precision 4-channel analog digital converter with 16-bit resolution. These characteristics are of major importance for applications in measurement technology.

Outstanding sensitivity makes the camera predestined for tasks with diffuse light conditions or where very short exposure time is required to capture high-dynamic motion.  The sensor’s very low dark current provides a solution for applications with extended exposure times without dedicated cooling management.

Sensor readout is either by 1, 2 or 4 channels to achieve supreme image quality and to exploit the full frame rate capacity. The camera-integrated USB 3.0 interface combines easy integration with a high bandwidth of 350 MB/s, which allows for detailed image or color transmission at very high frame rates. The cameras feature comprehensive functionalities such as 4x4 binning, sequencer with format converter and Multi I/O.

The compact industry design of 45 x 45 x 47 mm and the very light weight substantially ease camera integration. Each side of the housing enables 3-point mounting for utmost flexibility and installation stability. The maximum sensor size of 1″ allows for compact and cost-efficient C-mount lenses.

The brilliant image quality in combination with high resolution and speed ensure dependable camera evaluation in demanding tasks of surface inspection, 2D/3D measuring and medical technology, microscopy, logistics or traffic safety.
