The already-proven MSA111C sensor concept for absolute measurements now also

The already-proven MSA111C sensor concept for absolute measurements now also "speaks" DRIVE-CliQ!

02 January 2015

SIKO GmbH: The MSA111C was specially developed to meet the high requirements in direct drive technology. Significantly higher dynamics, precision and speed call for a high control quality.

Absolute and incremental tracking are used to calculate the position values, so they are available immediately after the sensor has been switched on, without the need for a time-consuming reference drive.

Up until now, the absolute values were communicated using the SSI or RS486 protocol.

Now, the DRIVE-CliQ interface is also integrated in the MSA111C, which allows the sensor to be operated without any problems on common Siemens SINUMERIK and SINAMICS control systems.

The sampling rate to update the position values is usually 125 µs and can be reduced to 62.5 µs as needed.

The new Drive-CliQ interface has been extensively tested and approved by Siemens.

The field bus interface can thus be changed without the need to replace the sensor type or redesign the system!

At the same time, the sensor has an analog real-time channel in the form of a 1Vss, which is found primarily in highly dynamic processes with high performance.

The system accuracy of the MSA111C is +/- 10 µm and the resolution is even 1 µm. The absolute system can be operated with a maximum travel speed of 2 m/sec. at a measuring length of max. 4 m.

Additional advantages of the MSA111C are its high degree of robustness and its insensitivity to dirt, dust, water and oil, as well as its small and compact design.

The absolute sensor offers ideal conditions for use as a feedback system on linear motors, in the medical technology sector or in robotics, as well as in assembly and handling technology.

MSA111C profile:

  • Max. resolution: 1 μm
  • Repeat accuracy: 2 μm
  • System accuracy: up to 10 μm
  • Output circuit: SSI, RS485, Drive-CliQ
  • Additional analog real-time signal output: Sin/Cos 1 for highly dynamic control
  • Signal period: 1 mm
