Profile sensors with new measuring range

Profile sensors with new measuring range

17 September 2009

The Micro-Epsilon range of compact profile scanners has been extended to include a new version. The profile scanners of the scanCONTROL 2700 and 2710 series are now also available with 50mm measuring range. This closes the gap between the previous measuring ranges of 25mm and 100mm. The models in the 2710 series have a compact housing with integrated controller and have a favourable price/performance ratio. This compactness makes the scanner ideal for use in automation applications where there is often restricted space. Typical measurement tasks for the scanCONTROL 2700 and 2710 are the measuring of angles, steps and positions. The same is also possible for profiles such as adhesive beads, weld seams, grooves and gaps.

scanCONTROL 2700 acts as a pure data supplier; the profile calculation is performed externally. The scanCONTROL 2710 calculates the information directly in the sensor and so can be operated without any additional PC or programming effort.

The series operates at 100Hz and provides a resolution of 640 points per profile. The compact design means the sensor can be adapted to a wide variety of applications, either as a stationary measurement unit or in moving mode, for example, on a robot arm. The measuring range starts at a distance of 175mm to the sensor and can be extended from 50mm to 105mm.
