Measuring vibration displacements in road tests

In automotive development, car chassis tests are the basis for safe driving. These checks require sensors that stand up to the challenges of road testing. Fast movements, short distances, limited space and harsh environmental conditions – these are the conditions for which Micro-Epsilon developed the wireSENSOR MP(M) draw-wire sensors.

The sensors are installed parallel to the shock absorber, where they measure the absorber movements for each road surface. This displacement signal is then used to calculate vibration velocity and acceleration for the shock absorber. These data provide developers with valuable information about the properties of a chassis.
