Switching light curtains for fast processes

Switching light curtains for fast processes

14 July 2015

The deep-freeze suitable light curtains from Leuze electronic for detection are faster than ever. Very short cycle times of 30 µs per beam reliably detect even fast processes. In addition, small, application-optimized CSR 780 devices are now also available with functionality based on the reflection principle.

The CSL 710 (left in photo) is a switching light barrier with a range of 8 m, selectable resolutions and four configurable inputs and outputs. Via the integrated display, this sensor can easily be aligned and taught to a wide range of object heights up to nearly 3 m. Thanks to the M12 connector, the electrical installation can be performed very quickly. Various device and mounting variations enable optimal adaptation to the installation conditions. The CSR 780 (right in photo) is the little brother of the CSL 710. It functions according to the reflection principle, i.e., transmitter and receiver are in the same housing. As a result, no mutually opposing device is needed; rather, just a standard reflector. Thanks to its high resolution and the aforementioned fast response time, it is predestined for counting and ejection monitoring of small objects of about 10 x 10 x 1 mm. It has a readjustment function that ensures, e.g., high availability in the event of soiling, and a warning output for preventive maintenance.
