Pressure Sensors With Display – The New Generation

11 June 2020
With extended functionality and high IP rating for flexible application

IO-Link capable sensors for hydraulics, coolant and lubricant and pneumatics monitoring are the future. They are simple to install and configure. Balluff now introduces a new generation of their pressure sensors with display. The sensors impress not only with their IP 67 protection rating, optionally even IP69K, but also with expanded functionalities: selectable outputs make them especially flexible to use. Comprehensive diagnostic functions over IO-Link can be used for condition monitoring.

With 11 pressure range versions the intelligent IO-Link pressure sensors cover all the important ranges from -1...2 bar to 0...600 bar without any gaps. Available are front flush and standard versions for media in all viscosities. Thanks to their long-term stable measuring cell drift and zero point shift are negligible.

An accurate overview is provided by a bright, highly visible 4-digit, 7-segment display with control panel. It indicates the current system pressure in bar, mbar, PSI or Mpa. Intuitive menu-driven operation means fast and easy configuration of the sensors using 2 keys per the VDMA standard.

In addition IO-Link lets you control the selectable outputs (analog, digital and IO-Link) and read out the analog values and switching points. Switching points, hysteresis, window functions and reset points are also fast and easy to set.

Comprehensive diagnostic functions such as an operating hours counter and pressure peak counter as well as indication of the internal temperature trend let you know the condition of the unit and ensure transparency in practical operation. These functions can be called up via IO-Link and in part on the display to ensure high machine availability. When needed the user can also detect pressure spikes over IO-Link and if necessary take measures to eliminate them.

Installation is fast using standardized process connections and an M12 connector. Process adapters are available for additional connectivity options.

If the IO-Link sensor needs to be replaced, plug-and-play is all it takes, with all the parameter data necessary for operation automatically transferred to the new sensor. Centralized parameter setting also ensures that the sensor no longer has to be absolutely accessible, but rather can be installed at the best possible location for measuring.
