Intelligent solutions for handling – Pilz at Motek 2018: Hall 8, Stand 8116 – robotics for the Smart Factory

30 August 2018

At this year’s Motek, the automation company Pilz will be presenting integrated system solutions that include innovative robotics. The highlight: The Pilz Smart Factory. This aids the company in demonstrating how distributed intelligence can be used in a modularly designed production system to solve automation and handling tasks in an efficient and user-friendly manner. The exhibition package features the comprehensive service offer for all automation sectors, including drive technology and robotics.

The Pilz Smart Factory model comprises a total of four modules in a network, manufacturing personalised products in an intelligent assembly line. All of the components, from the sensor and drive technology to the controller and the robotics, come from Pilz.

Smart robotics

Integrated in to the Pilz Smart Factory are the new service robotics modules with manipulator, control, operator and software modules. Pilz Motion Control (PMC) as the robot controller forms the interface between the manipulator module, operator module and control: The drive controller PMCprimo MC is responsible for movement control of the robot arm. An important feature of the service robotics modules is openness, thanks to amongst other things the software framework ROS. This enables users to assemble their individual service robot applications.

Services from A for "Antriebstechnik" (drive technology) to R for "Robotik" (robotics)

The company's services portfolio, beginning with risk assessment and safety concept and continuing right through to CE marking, completes the solutions on offer and will be a topic in Stuttgart. This also covers in particular the drive range and the robotics range. Pilz thus supports users all the way through to CE marking with its portfolio of services that is tailored to the individual life phases of a robot system. A specific range of training courses on robot safety completes the range of services.

Safely managing robot forces

Included in the portfolio of services at Motek: The innovative collision measurement set for the validation of HRC applications. This can be used to precisely determine the forces and pressures of robots. Experts from Pilz will show you how the safety of HRC applications can be increased at any time using precise measurements.
