In-Line Biomechanical Load Cell with USB Option

In-Line Biomechanical Load Cell with USB Option

30 July 2009

FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology, Inc. is offering their In-Line Load Cell with a USB output option. The LCM300 is a Tension and Compression built for Endurance, Press, or Inline applications. The LCM300 In-line Load Cell now available with USB Output eliminates the need for an analog amplifier, power supply, and display equipment making usage easy to use and much more effective. You can enjoy measurement which is less affected by noise, temperature variation or power supply requirement with the simple plug and play system. This USB integration also gives you power to monitor the output of the sensor and includes FUTEK’s USB Basic Software which allows users to monitor the output of the Sensor in real time.

The standard LCM300 Tension and Compression Load Cell model has a very robust construction available in 17-4 Stainless Steel, with male threads on both ends and a 10 feet long 28 AWG 4 conductor shielded PVC cable. This product offers an exceptional miniature design with a height of 1.20” and a diameter of 1.00”. You will also find options for external matched output or Teflon cable readily available. For a higher capacity range please see the LCM325, LCM350, or LCM375.

In-line Load cells are commonly used in Biomechanical applications and the FUTEK LCM300 model is designed in a way that can support research and general lab applications in the fields of medicine, industrial ergonomics and sports science. Other applications include welding, anchor testing and these types of Load Cells may also be used in tension and compression applications such as hydraulic systems.

FUTEK Tension and Compression In-Line Load Cells offer high accuracy and high stiffness. This model has Nonlinearity of ±0.5% and Deflection of 0.001” nominal. The standard LCM300 Tension and Compression Load Cell can be modified or customized to meet your requirements and most models are in FUTEK’s inventory making them available for 24 hour shipping. Similar to their entire Load Cell product line this model is manufactured in USA and uses metal foil strain gauge technology.

Product Highlights:

FUTEK - Biometric Load Cell Application

The field of Biometrics involves applications where the testing of bone strength and detection of axial force in human muscle tissue is tested in order to obtain critical data in testing. Illustrated in the diagram is a typical application using an In-Line Load Cell to predict pathologic fractures on long bones; in this case a femur is being tested by applying force in two directions.

Designed for general research applications including the fields of medicine, industrial ergonomics and sports science, the In-Line load cell makes an ideal sensor for research and testing applications.

For those who are a looking for a complete system solution, FUTEK can provide both signal conditioned displays or our VCal Portable System. FUTEK’s VCal Portable System brings an easy-to-use system verification directly to the customer making it ideal for on-site verification and calibration of your products. FUTEK LCM Series is also available with TEDS / IEEE1451.4 option.
