Wireless and batteryless probes

14 July 2009

These 2 wireless probes SED-100 (thermowell-packaged) and SED-120 from SENSeOR are specifically designed for temperature measurements inside critical equipments or at the heart of industrial processes. Not to forget that they comply with well-established standards within the industry. These wireless sensing solutions have been developed to work where any other system cannot be set up i.e. in harsh environments (explosive and/or irradiated atmospheres), confined and/or inaccessible places – all this with almost unlimited autonomy.

Unique competencies in antenna design and Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology allow the high-tech firm to lead this revolutionary wireless and passive sensing solution for optimal customer value. Inside each probe there is a miniature SAW sensor (-20 to +160°C) working passively, which is connected to a specific antenna. Data collection is then remotely performed (typically up to 3 meters) in real-time by the provided reader unit, which is connected to a computer (via USB, analog or even Zigbee link) for data visualization and storage. Once mounted, these probes are maintenance-free and allow avoiding unwanted cables of wired sensors. Furthermore, the drawbacks related to the active electronics of conventional wireless sensors are bypassed.
