Measurement technology for rough ambient conditions

Measurement technology for rough ambient conditions

20 August 2012

The measurement technology specialist HBM has expanded the measurement system QuantumX with measurement modules that meet the high protection class IP67 and which are not affected by vibrations, impacts or high and low temperatures.

In order to use measurement technology even under difficult ambient conditions, the hardware must be correspondingly robust.

The universal measurement system QuantumX allows the user to obtain measurement results rapidly and easily. Installation outlay is reduced by the modular construction and the robust plug connection as the modules can be distributed as required within the application. Measuring amplifiers are available for practically all common measured quantities and sensor types.

HBM is initially offering four modules in the new product line for use under rough ambient conditions. Amplifiers are available with four, eight or 16 universal inputs and one module is also available with four frequency inputs. All the measurement modules meet IP67 and can be used within an extended temperature range between -35 °C and +80 °C. They can also withstand impacts up to 50 g and vibrations up to 10 g.

Typical applications for the new modules are measurements in road tests, in mobile machines, in the marine sector or generally for measurements outdoors.
