Measuring a breathing wall`s effectiveness and dynamic behaviour

25 June 2019

Researchers from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, investigated breathing walls using greenTEG’s gSKIN® XM heat flux sensor. Breathing walls both act as building envelopes and ventilation system components and are considered a promising technical solution to reduce building energy needs.

The researchers first performed a series of experimental tests and then assessed the energy-saving potential of the investigated breathing wall using a virtual case study. Important insights into the dynamic behaviour of such building components as well as best operating conditions for typical winter use were found.

We are happy to be a part of this interesting research project and congratulate the authors Andrea Alongi, Adriana Angelotti and Livio Mazzarella for their work.
