DIS Sensors expands its portfolio with a CANopen inclination/ acceleration sensor meeting the SIL2/ PLd requirements

11 November 2013

DIS Sensors: The SIL2 (Safety Integrity Level 2) and PLd (Performance level d) are defined in EN 62061:2005 (SIL2) and EN ISO 13849-1:2008 (PLd) for functional safety. Due to law-regulations more and more applications/ machines have to meet this safety-level according to IEC/EN 61508.

Therefore we are developing a new family of CANopen sensors meeting SIL2/PLd. These sensors are based on MEMS technology, are redundant for all safety-critical components and communicate with the CANopen Safety protocol EN50325-5 (CiA304) certified by TuV for SIL2/PLd.
Currently three products are being developed:

  • 1-axis 360° inclination sensor
  • 2-axis ±30° inclination sensor
  • 2-axis ±0.5g acceleration sensor

All models are available in the DIS standard QG65 housing (either plastic or zinc diecast) or stainless steel QG76 housing.
Specifications:

  • Ingress protection IP67 (QG65) or up to IP68 for QG76
  • Temperature range up to -40° - +85°
  • Inclination accuracy up to 0.05° typical with a resolution of 0.01°
  • Acceleration accuracy up to 0.005g typical with a resolution of 0.002g

TuV certification pending.
