Laser fork sensors with specialized optics

Laser fork sensors with specialized optics

02 May 2007
  • Laser with low beam spread thanks to STM precision optics
  • No aperture – high precision even with mechanical deformation

STM now also offers their patented precision optics with a laser as the optical element.

This produces a laser beam with an extremely low beam spread. Therefore, a resolution of down to 0.06 mm applies over the entire fork width, allowing objects to be detected precisely and reliably from emitter to receiver. The fine, regular beam allows a high reso-lution without additional apertures. In combination with the two-dimensional receiving element, the resolution is maintained even in the event of mechanical deformation.

The GLSK Laser fork sensor will initially be offered with fork widths of 30, 50, 80, and 120 mm.

Versions with NPN and PNP outputs are available. Light or dark switching can be set with a rotary switch. Also, the switching frequency is 3 kHz, thus making the GLSK suit-able for extremely time-critical applications.

The GLSK family features especially small external dimensions. All products have a ro-bust aluminum housing, which guarantees mechanical stability for an extremely precise optical acquisition system.

Applications are in the acquisition and positioning of small parts, in the processes of installation, delivery, and handling.
