High-end safety laser scanner

High-end safety laser scanner

25 November 2015
Leuze electronic rounds off its new safety laser scanner series with device model RSL 440.

Leuze electronic: The sensor manufacturer from Owen is now presenting a high-end laser scanner for safety at work with the largest functional bandwidth within the RSL 400 series. It provides 100 reversible field pairs or 50 reversible quads and up to 10 independent sensor configurations. Among other things, it is ideally suited for mobile applications – especially due to its 4-field mode and its nine configurable signal outputs for status control (e.g. during movement with/without load). In addition to the large scanning range, the facility for emergency-stop linkage and configurable data output for supporting navigation is also advantageous. The internal safe time delay can be used to set stop categories.

The entire RSL 400 series consists of 16 device versions with operating ranges of up to 8.25 m. The safety laser scanners can be configured easily via Bluetooth and Ethernet TCP/IP. Despite the large number of possible field pairs, the creation of independent configurations with application-oriented one-step configuration is simpler than ever. The large 270-degree scanning angle of the devices is particularly advantageous, e.g. in the case of mounting on corners or edges for front and side protection and can replace a second laser scanner in this case, depending on the application.

A large plain-text display with integrated electronic spirit level ensures simple alignment when the connector unit is being mounted. This also includes the entire cable management. The scanner unit itself can be removed at any time using standard tools and equipped with other RSL 400 devices again without the need for realignment, readjustment or lengthy configuration – an important advantage for maintenance and repair.

Thanks to its outstanding design, the RSL 400 series was rated by a broad audience at SPS IPC DRIVES 2015 and chosen as the winner of the 2016 GIT Security Award – a prestigious award presented by the Wiley-VCH publishing house.
