Series 46B diffuse reflection light scanner sets whole new standards

Series 46B diffuse reflection light scanner sets whole new standards

24 March 2008

The new series 46B reflection light scanners from Leuze electronic offer considerably greater performance reserves and ranges coupled with an increased setting range. High-speed commissioning with the aid of brightVision® and Ultra-Lock™, reliable detection of wide-ranging different objects and a long service life even under adverse environmental conditions guarantee low costs over the entire life cycle of the product.

Enhanced transmission performance and improved sensor technology in the HRT 46B from Leuze open up scope for impressive operating ranges of up to 2500 millimetres. Characteristic of this scanner is also its high performance reserves for the reliable detection of dark and shiny objects even where long working distances are involved. Special versions are available with an optimized light spot, permitting reliable detection of coloured structured objects against a close background. With this range of benefits, these sensors are ideally suitable for applications in the woodworking industry, in conveying and packaging applications and also in the special-purpose machine engineering sector. Their high performance reserves render the scanners insensitive to soiling, and guarantee reliable differentiation between the object and its background. The active ambient light suppression system (A2LS) also has a contributory role to play here. The sensors are able to detect incident spurious light and differentiate between their own sensor signal and any sources of interference. brightVision® technology is another feature of Leuze optosensors, which permits simple handling and reduces the time required for commissioning. Bright display diodes affording all-round visibility make for extreme operating convenience. A very bright, easily visible light spot helps speed up the alignment process. The innovative plug-in connector system Ultra-Lock™ makes for faster installation and guarantees reliable contacting by locking securely into place even in the most confined of mounting situations. The housing of the HRT 46B affords fastening compatibility with all the most commonly used designs. With protection rating IP 67 and IP 69K as well as ECOLAB certification, long service periods are achieved even where intensive cleaning cycles are required. The scanners are capable of withstanding extreme operating temperatures within a range of -30 to +60°C.

Series 46B diffuse reflection light scanners come in a number of different variants. The power pack with infrared LED has a limiting range of between 0 and 2500 millimetres, and is ideally suited for the detection of shiny and dark objects. The HRTR 46B variant featuring an extra bright light spot is designed for simple adjustment and fast commissioning coupled with good detection characteristics. With a limiting scanning range of 1200 millimetres, the laser scanner HTRL 46B is ideal for high-precision positioning and reliable detection of small items, while the HRTR 46B small beam with red light LED is designed for the reliable detection of coloured structured objects of the kind occurring in the field of packaging technology and the woodworking industry. With its small light spot, it covers typical working distances of between 100 and 300 millimetres. A number of permanently adjusted variants complete the product range. With an operating scanning depth of around 600 millimetres, these eliminate the need for setting and are ideally suited for conveyor belt applications.
