New ±5g MEMS accelerometer for vibration and mini shock sensing

01 October 2013

Colibrys has announced the release of its VS9005.D, a new ±5g range MEMS vibration sensor, complementing its existing family of +/-2g to +/-200g products targeted for applications in the industrial and instrumentation markets.

The VS9005.D is designed to offer to Colibrys customers a new alternative to existing selection of VS9002.D and VS9010.D products dedicated in low g range and low frequency vibration measurements.

According to Philippe Krebs, Product Line Manager at Colibrys, “the VS9005.D offers optimal performances for applications in environments characterized by low levels of vibration and shock such as security and comfort. The ±5g product features a wide frequency response from DC to 1’700 Hz and a high signal to noise ratio, which ensure very good resolution in band. Typical concrete examples of applications are aerospace and automotive testing, railway and process control or monitoring of vibration for industrial security and control. This new product strengthens Colibrys’ position as the world leading supplier of MEMS accelerometers for vibration, shock and condition monitoring applications”.

This product benefits from the specialised knowledge and applications experience of Colibrys accelerometers in term of reliability for harsh environments and safety critical applications.

About MEMS Technology
MEMS (Micro-Electrical-Mechanical Systems) are highly miniaturized devices that integrate a number of functions including fluidics, optics, mechanics and electronics on a single silicon chip using techniques similar to traditional integrated circuit process technology. MEMS merge sensing, actuating, and computing into miniature systems that enable enhanced levels of perception, control and performance.
