Leuze electronic expands its line of hand-held scanner products with the new HS 65x8 DPM series. This series features hand-held scanners for rapidly reading 1D- and 2D-codes, both printed as well as directly marked (DPM codes).

The HS 65x8 DPM series devices meet the demands that many users place in their daily work, e.g. in automobile manufacturing. There, task requirements include reading not only printed bar codes and PDF codes but also directly marked 2D-codes as well. An example of this are housing parts marked with a dot-peened Data Matrix code and taken out of a wire-mesh box that is identified by a printed VDA label. Reading both of them with a single device – that is the performance that the Leuze electronic hand-held scanner of the HS 65x8 DPM series delivers.

Currently, there are many hand-held scanners on the market that are optimized for a special area of application . For example, inexpensive hand-held scanners for reading printed and/or high-contrast codes. Or for reading directly marked 2D-codes – for this, there are expensive, elaborate hand-held scanners that are equipped with special lighting, utilize liquid lens technology and have decoding software that allows a multitude of settings. Associated with this are corresponding demands placed on the operator.

The HS 65x8 DPM hand-held scanners take a different approach – they make it possible to reliably read not only 1D- and 2D-codes but also DPM codes (Direct Part Marking) with just one device. To do this, the decoding software was made to be more intelligent. For the operator, this means that – in contrast to conventional products on the market – both directly marked codes and printed codes can be read quickly and reliably without the lighting switching times or the focusing times. Furthermore, the user does not need to make any software settings – thus, he or she has a time and operating advantage.

To make a reading, the operator must hold the laser aimer of the hand-held scanner in the direction of the code and press on the read button. He or she then receives a quick response to the successful reading in the form of clearly audible beep sound, LED indicator or vibration signal. These application advantages have already been confirmed repeatedly by customers, e. g. in the automotive industry. Also of particular interest to this industry is that the Bluetooth version also functions trouble-free in WLAN networks.
