Compact charge amplifiers for the measurement of very small to very large forces

Compact charge amplifiers for the measurement of very small to very large forces

20 July 2012

HBM: Piezoelectric force measurement chains are indispensable in modern production plants for quality control and control processes.

Their advantage is that the output signal of the sensors does not depend on the measurement range, but only on the applied measured forces, so they can therefore be used in many load ranges.

The appropriate charge amplifiers, which make the measurement signal available as a voltage value, are of great significance here. The measurement technology specialist HBM offers their CMA type compact charge amplifier with five new measurement ranges so that the user can select the corresponding charge amplifier for every range.

The measurement ranges now start from 1,000 pC for measuring very small forces, incrementing in a total of ten stages up to 2 million pC for the measurement of very large forces. The devices are delivered with two calibrated measuring ranges (100% and 20% of the nominal (rated) force) and a calibration certificate.

They are compact and can be easily mounted without additional installation elements, even in rough environment conditions, thanks to the electrical isolation and the high degree of protection IP65. Typical applications for piezoelectric force measurement technology are force measurement in machines or the monitoring of production processes.
