Pilz at SPS IPC Drives – One-stop safety and automation

Pilz at SPS IPC Drives – One-stop safety and automation

28 September 2015

At this year's SPS IPC Drives exhibition in Nuremberg (24. - 26.11.2015), Pilz will be showing its range of complete solutions for automation tasks: from sensor technology to control and drive technology – one-stop safety and automation! Pilz will also be exhibiting automation concepts for Industrie 4.0 along with other partners of the research platform SmartFactory KL, on a shared stand in Hall 3a.

One of the innovations that will be presented in Nuremberg is the new base unit m B1 for the configurable control systems PNOZmulti 2. It offers higher performance for machines with a larger function range and has two integrated Ethernet ports. Short downtimes and high plant availability are guaranteed by connection to all common fieldbus systems via the respective expansion modules.

Software as the link between safety and automation

Version 10.0.0 of the PNOZmulti Configurator will also be presented in Nuremberg. This can be used for smooth operation of all control systems PNOZmulti, including PNOZmulti Mini and PNOZmulti 2. For example, the new version supports the configuration of special module programs. On motion monitoring modules, the module program enables the configuration of several monitoring areas, such as velocity or speed for example, which can then be executed locally on the expansion module. This gives users greater flexibility for their application.

"Software has a central role to play in modern automation concepts. Its task is to keep the setup and operation of increasingly complex plant and machinery as simple as possible. It is also the crucial link between safety and automation: one tool for both worlds, that's our aspiration", says Renate Pilz, Chair of the Board of Pilz GmbH & Co. KG.

Pilz will be presenting its versatile software tools live on the stand at SPS IPC Drives. One highlight is the web-based visualisation software PASvisu. This can be used not only for visualisation but also to actively control and operate plant and machine states. For this, PASvisu relies on the close dovetailing of control and visualisation. The platform-independent visualisation software can access the complete data set of automation projects with Pilz control solutions. The user interface can be configured individually via "drag and drop", giving the machine a unique look.

Services for greater safety and cost effectiveness

As a complete supplier, Pilz provides advice and support over the whole machine lifecycle. Visitors to the Pilz stand in Nuremberg can find out about the tailor-made services for risk assessment, safety concept, safety validation and CE marking, for example. The wide range of training courses, including the CMSE® qualification – Certified Machinery Safety Expert – completes the services portfolio.

Pilz on the shared stand for SmartFactory KL

As a member of the research platform SmartFactory KL, Pilz is actively involved in drafting uniform standards for Industrie 4.0 and so is also represented on the shared "Automation meets IT" stand in Hall 3a. A production line will be on show, which has been developed in conjunction with partners from SmartFactory KL. It demonstrates the practical application of some key aspects of Industry 4.0. The demonstrator includes a storage module from Pilz, which operates as intelligent, automated storage for the workpiece carriers.

Pilz is exhibiting in Hall 9, Stand 370. Further information on Pilz’s stand available at: https://www.pilz.com/en-INT/sps-ipc-drives
