PCB Piezotronics Releases New series of Array Microphones for Holography and Sound Pressure Acoustic Measurements

March 14, 2011, Depew, NY - PCB Piezotronics, Inc., a global leader in vibration, acoustic, pressure, force, and torque sensors, is pleased to announce the introduction of a new series of Array Microphones to its line of acoustic products. The new "array" microphones are electret designs and consist of three 130 series models: 130E20, 130E21 and 130E22. All three models have similar specifications and are differentiated by the connectors. The 130E20 utilizes a BNC connection, while the 130E21 uses a 10-32 standard connector and the 130E22 connects via a SMB connector.

The 130 series operate on the Free-Field response type, which compensates for their own presence in the sound field. The sensitivity rating is 45 mV/Pa with a low "Noise Floor" rating of 30 dBA while still being able to measure sound pressure levels up to 122dB. The frequency range for the 130 series offers a low frequency measuring capability of 20 Hz, to its improved high end of 20 kHz. TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheets) v1.0 is standard on all three products and enables the user to locate a specific microphone within a large group, or for attaining traceability data. The robust designs include a heavy duty grid cap, typically seen on more expensive condenser microphones.

The 130 series are designed to measure acoustic signals within the audible range of the human ear, at an investment that makes them easily justifiable for large channel count applications like: Holography, Sound Pressure Mapping and Beamforming applications. The 130 series are an excellent choice for other typical applications which include machine noise exposure (used to prevent hearing loss), and other general noise testing applications in the automotive, aerospace and appliance industries which enable OEM's to make products more enjoyable to use.
