Complete System Management for Cylinder Pressure

Complete System Management for Cylinder Pressure

19 August 2008

The use of intelligent systems technology in the field of combustion analysis does not only improve process integrity and data quality but it can also reduce engine development costs. With the introduction of the new Web based Kistler Equipment Database a global resource management tool is available to the combustion analysis community providing local access to help manage sensor inventories large or small.

Within Kistler’s Equipment Database, all routine sensor data and housekeeping informa-tion can be managed quickly and conveniently. Access to original factory calibration data as well as more recent information allows the user to maximize the efficiency of their sensor stock.

Adding to the flexibility of Kistler’s Signal Conditioning Platform (SCP) new modules with application specific features (needle lift amplifiers, pMax detection, strain gage amplifiers and carrier frequency amplifiers) can be used in combination with existing sensors and amplifiers to provide cost effective solutions to local challenges.

Using a combination of these new modules and the Equipment Database, important func-tions necessary for the efficient management of sensor inventories can be automated. This includes the digitized storage of a sensors running time or cycle count and automatic charge amplifier configuration using the PiezoSmart®.

Well suited for use in engine test beds or vehicle applications the SCP has proven to be the most flexible and cost effective signal conditioning tool available, the new capability will ensure that the cost of ownership continues to fall while utilization increases.
