Jewell Instruments announces North American and European Standards self-certification for high performance sensors used within the Rail Transportation Industry

18 September 2013

Jewell Instruments, a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of sensors and controls, meters and avionics, industrial test equipment, geophysical, and geotechnical products today announced they have self-certified to meet or exceed AREMA and CENELEC standards for their most popular sensors being installed in the rail transportation industry.  These self-certifications are instrumental in Jewell Instruments ability to grow their market share within the rail and rail transportation markets world-wide.

Jewell has self-certified for both North American and European standards on their most popular high performance inclinometer and accelerometer sensors used within the rail transportation industry.  Certification was completed by an independent third party testing facility.  The certification tests were performed to the standardization principles and policies for the rail transportation industry for both AREMA and CENELEC.  The certified sensors include their LCA-165 accelerometer, LCF-501 accelerometer, as well as both of their newest digital sensors – the DXI-100/200 single or dual axis inclinometer and DXA-100/200 single or dual axis accelerometer.

These sensors are currently used for Rail Maintenance of Way (RMOW), Rail Automated Train Controls (RATC), and Rail Test and Measurement (RT&M) markets within the rail transportation industry.  Jewell’s sensors are crucial to the components in safety and control systems and offer a safe, controlled ride by providing train acceleration, deceleration, and position feedback information.  These high precision and rugged sensors are great solutions for rail applications where high shock and vibration are present.

“Jewell is thrilled to offer our rail transportation customers the option for North American or European standards certified sensors for their rail transportation needs.  Our commitment to producing high quality sensors that adhere to standardization principles and policies is our top priority.  This new certification shows our dedication and support to safety and quality when it comes to our sensor manufacturing” said Brian Ward, Director of Business and Development for the Sensors and Controls product line. “This certification will also allow Jewell Instruments the opportunity to gain greater market share and presence within the rail transportation industry.”

Jewell Instruments North American and European standards self-certified sensors can be purchased from any of our Manufacturer Representative’s located world-wide.  For a listing of representatives, please visit our website at www.jewellinstruments.com/where-to-buy/ or contact a Jewell Instruments Product Expert at sensors@jewellinstruments.com.

Jewell Instruments will be showcasing these newly self-certified sensors at the Railway Interchange tradeshow in Indianapolis, Indiana from September 29-October 2nd.  Jewell Instruments can be found along with their sister company, Triplett Test Equipment and Tools in booth 3425B in the REMSA Exhibition hall.  To schedule a meeting with our Director of Business Development during the show, please email sensors@jewellinstruments.com to secure an appointment.
